Job Description

Research Focus: The University of British Columbia invites applications for a PhD position in the Sustainable Engineered Structural Solutions Laboratory (SESS-Lab) Group. The successful candidate will contribute to a research program focused on developing long-term carbon storage building materials for automated construction.

Research Objectives:

  • Develop modular bio-blocks for fast stacking using automated robotic bricklayer technology.
  • Optimize bio-block design for high load-bearing and hygrothermal performance capacity.
  • Conduct numerical and experimental research to determine mechanical parameters.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., solid mechanics, structural analysis, finite element analysis).
  • Strong background in programming languages (C++, Python, etc.).
  • Experience with data processing and testing methods.

  • Four-year scholarship with a minimum stipend of $28,000/year.
