We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Personal Support Worker to join our team at Harbour Light, a unique healthcare facility in Scarborough. As a Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing patient-centered care to our residents, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of life for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assist patients with daily living activities, such as meals, transfers, and repositioning, using mechanical lifts as needed.
- Perform tasks delegated by Registered Nurses or Registered Practical Nurses, in compliance with the Regulated Health Professions Act.
- Ensure a safe environment for patients and staff by reporting and documenting any safety concerns, including environmental hazards.
- Participate in daily Patient Safety Huddles and education sessions to stay up-to-date on best practices.
- Document patient records and progress notes, as per our policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Patient Care Manager.
- Successful completion of a Personal Support Worker program from an accredited institution.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate.
- Behavioural management training, such as PIECES or CPI, is considered an asset.
- Experience working with persons with dementia or cognitive impairment.
- Experience in mental health is preferred.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing work environments.
- Able to establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, learning, and evidence-based practice.
- Demonstrated resilience and problem-solving skills.
- Highly motivated and compassionate individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal skills in English.
- Strong time management skills and excellent attendance record.
- Demonstrated skills in applicable computer software applications.
- Ability to meet bone fide occupational requirements as outlined in the Job Demands Analysis.
- Must have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada prior to start date, and submit evidence of such.
