ABOUT THE ROLE
The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking several temporary part-time term instructors to fulfill the role of Junior Recreation Program Leaders.
We are hiring for two (2) different areas:
Junior Leaders serve on a recreation team responsible for the delivery of quality program experiences to children and families throughout the Regional District of Nanaimo. Junior Leaders assist Senior and Inclusion Leaders during recreation programs to ensure the safety of participants, lead daily program activities including age-appropriate games, sports, arts, and crafts; assist with the inclusion of all participants; interact with parents and community members; maintain program supplies, equipment, and facilities; and more.
QUALIFICATIONS
General qualifications include leadership (paid and/or volunteer) experience working directly with children in recreation and/or childcare settings or other related services. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, general knowledge of recreation programs, and guiding children's behaviour are essential. Incumbents must possess and maintain a current first aid (Emergency First Aid, or Standard First Aid, or Emergency Childcare First Aid) and CPR B or C. and be currently enrolled in or have completed Grade 10.
Other applicable certifications such as, High Five, NCCP, Canucks Autism Network, Physical Literacy 101, National Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor, and training in nature interpretation and education, and outdoor skill development are considered assets.
POSITION DETAILS
Program locations include various community buildings in the area you are hired for. The wage will be $17.75 per hour. These positions are dependent upon program registration and work hours vary based on need; general hours and start and end dates will be as follows:
