Job Summary

Manage complex infrastructure projects, oversee project delivery, and lead teams of technical staff and consultants to ensure timely and budget-friendly completion.

Job Description

The Infrastructure Services department is responsible for implementing city-building priorities, including planning and delivering infrastructure projects, managing infrastructure assets, and investments.

As a key member of the team, you will oversee the total project delivery using in-house and/or external resources for major infrastructure construction and rehabilitation projects, including:

  • roadways
  • transitways
  • structures
  • sewers
  • water mains
  • pumping stations
  • treatment works
  • drainage works
  • lighting
  • solid waste/landfill sites
  • cycling facilities
  • traffic calming
  • transit improvements
  • streetscaping
  • related underground utilities

You will be responsible for all phases of the project delivery, from project inception through consultant selection, public consultation, pre-design, detailed design, approvals, tendering, and award, to construction.

You will also:

  • participate in project identification, prioritization, and planning
  • organize the conduct of environmental impact assessment and other studies
  • contribute to the review/development of department engineering standards
  • carry out other duties as assigned
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • a 4-year degree in Engineering or Applied Science
  • a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the planning, design, and construction of municipal infrastructure, including a minimum of 5 years of project management experience
  • a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)

  • strong leadership and problem-solving skills
Language and Driver's License Requirements

You will need to:

  • be fluent in English (oral, reading, writing)
  • have a valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
