About the Job:
Clinical Counsellor is responsible for providing case management and resource-based counselling to individuals and their families with youth or children under the age of 18 who are experiencing difficulties in parenting, family dynamics/relationships, crisis or mild to moderate mental health concerns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide family counselling to support clients in managing current risks and increasing their effectiveness in dealing with future concerns and challenges.
- Work collaboratively with clients to provide case management, risk assessment, goal setting, planning, counselling, closure, and follow-up as needed.
- Participate in Integrated Case Management and coordinate with other service providers and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, client information systems, and MCF tracking systems.
- Supervise interns and ensure adherence to agency policy and practices.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews, case and team consultation/supervision, and meetings as required.
- Contribute to program development and liaise with community agencies, committees, and professionals.
- Ensure work practices comply with agency health and safety standards and administrative records are complete, timely, and accurate.
Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in counselling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of counselling experience specifically with families.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Understanding and application of resource-based counselling.
- Ability to work from multiple modalities to respond to each client.
- Knowledge of family counselling theories and practices, risk assessment, and case management.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to engage clients and demonstrate creativity in case planning and program development.
- Flexibility in responding to changing conditions and commitment to teamwork.
