Job Summary

The Environmental Performance Specialist is a key member of SaskPower's management team, responsible for providing subject matter expertise and administration of environmental and sustainability functions. This role acts as a central point of contact for strategic, environmental, and operational functions, providing expert advice and direction that aligns with departmental and corporate goals and objectives.

Key Accountabilities
  • Develop and implement processes, policies, and procedures for environmental and sustainability initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational requirements.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in environmental and sustainability policies, providing advice and guidance to management staff and stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement business solutions and operational efficiencies, with a focus on improving SaskPower's environmental performance and sustainability.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional projects to provide functional expertise for corporate and departmental strategic planning initiatives.
  • Maintain environmental data systems and track and report on environmental performance, representing the department and preparing and presenting material to internal and external audiences as required.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices related to environmental and sustainability functions, adapting them to SaskPower's operational environment.
  • Provide leadership and direction to project teams and assigned staff as required.
Requirements
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, and/or relevant professional designation(s) and/or certification(s).
  • Five (5) years of related experience in environmental management, with a strong track record of delivering results and providing expert advice.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships both internal and external to SaskPower.
  • Ability to work and manage in a changing environment, with a focus on safety, innovation, and teamwork.
  • Demonstrated skill in SaskPower's competencies, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
