We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Material Handler to join our Contract Logistics team at Kuehne+Nagel in Edmonton. As a Material Handler, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse, overseeing all semi-skilled distribution center tasks, including receiving, storage, shipping, and general labor duties.
Key Responsibilities- Warehouse Operations: Follow standard warehouse practices and work instructions to maintain high levels of inventory and location accuracy, documenting and identifying discrepancies to the warehouse supervisor or team lead.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Accurately complete routine documentation, such as pick sheets, manifests, and unload lists.
- General Labor Duties: Perform a variety of physically demanding general labor duties according to standard work instructions, such as manually loading and unloading goods from a trailer.
- Quality and Efficiency: Demonstrate accuracy and efficiency in the execution of standard warehousing processes, such as receiving, picking, packing, shipping, checking, and loading customer orders and products.
- Training and Compliance: Participate in process-specific training and adhere to all work instructions and guidelines established by KN to comply with regulatory standards, such as ISO and GxP.
- Equipment Operation: Demonstrate and maintain a skill set capable of operating a variety of equipment used in a traditional warehouse environment, including scanners, computers, scales, pallet jacks, and motorized material handling equipment.
- Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate and maintain professional interpersonal skills when dealing with internal and external personnel.
- Safety and Security: Follow all company safety, security, and housekeeping protocols, respecting customer and company property and equipment.
- Accident Prevention: Proactively prevent accidents and incidents, filling out reports promptly and accurately when required.
- Continuous Improvement: Strive to increase personal knowledge and share work knowledge with less experienced staff, maintaining an acceptable availability for work record.
- Initiative and Responsibility: Demonstrate initiative and responsibility in all tasks in support of department and business goals, supporting the company's continuous improvement philosophy.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in a similar role as Material Handler/Warehouse Associate, with 3+ years of experience in Material Handling, including driving reach trucks, power jacks, and forklifts.
- Skills and Knowledge: Experience in shipping/receiving is preferred, as well as knowledge of Dangerous Goods and GMP Quality Systems.
- Physical Demands: Ability to perform heavy lifting with no accommodations (50lbs).
- Availability: Availability to work periodic overtime in order to meet the requirements of the operation.
