As one of Canada's largest marine engineering integrators, we are looking for talented individuals to bring their skills to Fleetway as we lead the way in Canadian naval defence contracts (In Service Support). Our work is project focused on government ship design and support, including warships, ferries, ice-breakers and commercial vessels. We are looking for qualified Jr. Naval Architect Technologists to join our Dartmouth, NS office.

Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, the Naval Architect Technologist is a crucial member of the Fleetway Engineering team who prepares comprehensive engineering change proposals and technical investigations, as well as designs and specifies integration requirements for modifications to ship systems and structures.

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes:

  • Participating in the development of technical studies, drawings and specifications
  • Assisting with report writing and equipment selection
  • Performing engineering design and structural analysis
  • Working on systems integration projects
  • Developing 3D models of ship equipment and compartment arrangements
  • Conducting engineering analyses such as finite element analysis
  • Equipment selection, specification, and report writing
  • Survey shipboard equipment
  • Conduct weights and stability analysis
  • Participate in field studies

Skill, Capabilities, and Experience:

  • 3-year Diploma program or equivalent with a concentration in Naval Architecture
  • 0-2 years of marine based engineering experience - (Naval Ship project experience an asset)
  • Must be self-starting, adaptable and eager to take on challenges

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance
