Assistant Professor – Criminology and Criminal Justice

The successful candidate will be expected to pursue an original and ambitious research agenda that can be supported by external funding, and to communicate this research through publications in reputable academic presses and journals.
Along with other core and elective courses in criminology and criminal justice, the successful candidate will be expected to teach a 2nd year undergraduate course on contemporary issues in criminology and criminal justice.
This new course is to provide a rich panorama of problematized situations, ranging from crime prevention and surveillance strategies to those related to the post-penal realities of criminalized individuals.
The course is intended to tackle a diversified sample of the great many manifestations of the limits of criminalizing and punitive logics and institutions, at different scales and across time and space.QualificationThe successful candidate must have a Ph.
D. in criminology or a related field by the date of the appointment or shortly thereafter. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated expertise in spearheading original criminological research.Qualified candidates will have a cutting-edge and ambitious research agenda, and a record of scholarly publications compatible with the critical orientation of the Institute and its commitment towards social justice.
