Rolling Mill Set-up Operator

Magna Exteriors is a leading innovator in vehicle exteriors, providing comprehensive solutions from materials development to manufacturing and assembly.

Responsibilities:
  • Inspect rolling mill at the beginning of the shift and ensure safety checklist is followed, completed, and recorded.
  • Operate rolling mill controls, tooling protection, and other equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain inspection records, SPC charts, and checking fixtures.
  • Use measuring equipment, such as vernier and other gauges.
  • Start and shut down equipment necessary to run the rolling mill.
  • Perform rolling mill induction welding.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Work overtime when required and assist with customer demands.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Valid forklift license and ability to operate 6000 lb. to 12000 lb. lift trucks.
  • Ability to follow written set-up instructions and fill out appropriate papers.
Main Duties and Activities:
  • Responsible for part quality.
  • Clean the rolling mill, remove rolls, and store them at the end of the run.
  • Use hand tools and make minor adjustments to operation.
  • Monitor oils and fluids levels.
  • Butt weld ends of coil together to form continuous feed or feed by hand.
  • Operate safely 10 to 40 ton cranes with appropriate sling or chain.
  • Knowledge of First and Last Off Procedure.
  • Knowledge of setting roll tools and achieving section.
  • Organize and clean up the area and equipment at the end of the shift.
  • Communicate issues and problems to area leader or workcell leader.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS/GHS.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work well without supervision.
  • Attend training based on Mytox Internal Training Matrix.
  • Utilize effective Housekeeping Practices.
  • Adhere to all Mytox safety rules and regulations.
  • Follow all applicable Mytox BOS procedures.
