The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is a key player in the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in British Columbia. As a branch of government, the LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis, operating the retail brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

The LDB is committed to making life better for people in B.C. by improving services and ensuring a sustainable province for future generations. The revenue generated by the LDB helps fund essential public services like healthcare, education, and community programming.

About the IT Team

The LDB's Information Technology (IT) team consists of 7 competency areas: Customer Experience, Infrastructure & Operations (I&O), Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, Software Services, Data Services, and IT Program Governance. The team is led by IT Directors who manage 4 divisions responsible for delivering the IT mandate of supporting LDB's corporate and business operations.

The IT team consists of over 260 full-time employees, with a sourcing strategy to leverage external expertise to ensure the integrated IT team continues to deliver LDB's strategic initiatives timely and in high quality.

About the Role

The Technical Analyst II designs, develops, implements, and manages solutions to support operational or customer-facing systems. The Analyst provides technical support, guidance, and problem-solving for retail (liquor and cannabis), corporate, and warehouse systems across the Province.

The Technical Analyst II assists in supporting 200+ liquor stores with 1,000+ IT-related devices and growing cannabis retail store environments. The role also involves corporate offices and different distribution centers for the cannabis and liquor streams of business.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have a degree or diploma in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, or a related discipline with 2 years of recent, related experience. Alternatively, a combination of education, training, and experience may be considered equivalent to the educational requirement.

Recent, related experience must have occurred in the last 5 years and must include experience with help desk call tracking, resolving and troubleshooting complex technical problems, and customer service-related technical positions.

Preference may be given to candidates with experience in multiple OS technologies, scripting, virtual servers, and other virtual systems.
