Seeking a Cook to prepare meals and snacks in a fast-paced environment, ensuring quality and safety standards are met, and providing excellent customer service.

The Cook is a critical role within our communities, impacting the lives of residents and igniting the warmth of human connection. As a Cook, you will be responsible for:

  • Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
  • Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes, and other menu documents.
  • Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures, and in portion-controlled quantities.
  • Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advising team leaders of problems and making recommendations for corrective action.
  • Assuming responsibility for departmental operations, including menu changes, requisitions, and purchases of food and other supplies.
  • Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 minimum education required.
  • A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate.
  • Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality settings.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
  • All applicants must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check (applicable to Ontario applicants) and a Criminal Records Check (applicable to British Columbia applicants).

  • Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willing to Red Seal certify.
