Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance & Relief Shift Operator (Third Class) to join our team at the National Research Council Canada. As a key member of our Real Property Planning and Management Branch, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our high-pressure steam and co-generation plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on the steam plant, including boiler water treatment and cooling tower water treatment.
  • Operate and monitor the co-generation plant, including the gas turbine generator.
  • Provide relief shift coverage for the Shift Engineers as required.
  • Collaborate with the Shift Engineers to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Secondary School Diploma according to provincial standards.
  • Valid Third Class Operating Engineer Certificate issued by TSSA.
  • Basic experience working in a complex, high-pressure steam plant.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and extreme temperature differences.
  • Availability to work rotating 12 hour shifts, including evenings and weekends.
