Our Environmental Services Group (ESG) provides expertise in climate change, environmental assessment & management, noise & vibration, social impact management, sustainable development design, and water resources. We are seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our team of talented environmental professionals in Hatch's Environmental Services Group, reporting to our Mississauga office.
The Role:
- Lead environmental assessments and permitting processes for multidisciplinary projects, including large linear infrastructure projects.
- Prepare technical reports, including tender packages, technical specifications, and contract drawings and cost estimates.
- Obtain permits and approvals, such as Environmental Compliance Approvals (Air and Noise, water and waste management).
- Coordinate work with other environmental specialists, including noise, air quality, archaeology, built heritage, fisheries, terrestrial ecologists, etc.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of existing and emerging environmental regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Deliver high-quality environmental services to agreed budgets and deadlines.
- Develop strong client relationships and respond to requests for proposals.
- Coordinate, manage, and build business relationships with clients, regulators, service providers, and third-party stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement environmental strategies to minimize environmental impacts.
- Conduct environmental assessments and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure environmental considerations are integrated into project planning and execution.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and issue resolution.
- Stay up-to-date with changing environmental regulations and best practices to ensure compliance and optimal performance.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Environmental Engineering or equivalent related engineering disciplines.
- Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Solid understanding of provincial and federal environmental regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of or experience with technical modelling (e.g., air quality) and environmental assessment processes (e.g., Municipal Class EA).
- Ability to read and provide environmental notes on engineering drawings and maps.
- Background in environmental analysis and strong understanding of construction activities.
- Flexibility to travel periodically.
- Previous consulting experience is an asset.
