The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

This Research Coordinator position will be responsible for overseeing the development, coordination, implementation, and refinement of the Peer Engagement Principles and Best Practices of the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC). This position will be responsible for all aspects of a Community Action Initiative-funded project titled "Updating Peer Engagement Principles and Best Practices", and will be based at the UBC-Centre for Disease Control, the academic arm of BCCDC.
Organizational Status
The position will report directly to Principal Investigator or their designates.
Work Performed
1. Develop and oversee implementation of study protocols, work plans and timelines for projects that evaluate policies related to peer engagement (e.g., BCCDC's Peer Engagement Principles and Best Practice)
2. Develop and revise peer engagement research project methodologies
3. Verify and update all study documentation and review study methodologies being used to ensure study objectives are being met
4. Ensure that proper communication and appropriate documentation of study errors and issues that occurred
5. Prepare ethics review submissions to maintain ethics approval and any other regulatory requirements
6. Liaise with peers with living/lived experiences, scientists, community organizations and public health agencies
7. Act as a resource, consult and collaborate with colleagues and external resources, present at knowledge exchange forums and facilitate workshops with a multidisciplinary group of professionals.
8. Perform research activities including literature reviews and conducting analyses
9. Participate in budget forecasting and funding administration
10. Contribute to the creation of scholarly papers, manuscripts and project proposals, through independently writing drafts and collaborating with the Principal Investigator and team members on the final submission
11. Coordinate and support dissemination of the study's findings, including presenting at conferences
12. Liaise with funding agency (Community Action Initiative) to resolve issues as needed.
13. Performs other related duties as required.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
The work of the Research Coordinator will make professional decisions and recommendations on all aspects of research work and is responsible for the quality of research activities. Errors or incorrect decisions could seriously compromise the quality of the research. Failure to clearly represent and communicate the work of the research team could result in severed relationships with collaborators. The work of the Research Coordinator must be completed at a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
Supervision Received
The Research Coordinator position will work with considerable latitude. It is imperative that the Research Coordinator work collaboratively and with minimal supervision. Research work will be reviewed against achievement of project objectives.

The Research Coordinator may supervise junior staff including research assistants or students.
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of three years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Post-graduate degree in a relevant discipline, PhD preferred, in Health or Social Sciences.

- Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities, multi-task, and to meet deadlines, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
