Angus Consulting Management Limited, a trusted facility operations management company, is seeking a skilled Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic to join our team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Reads and interprets mechanical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and code specifications;
  • Performs basic inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems and logs results;
  • Operates, maintains, services, repairs, installs, and replaces HVAC and refrigeration equipment, components, and parts;
  • Installs wiring and cabling, connects components and equipment to an electric power supply, and calibrates related controls;
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, and connects pipe to functional components and utilities;
  • Works with vendors to organize work, subtrades, parts, and material logistics;
  • Prepares work estimates, including material, rentals, labor, etc.;
  • Operates DDC software, monitors, and adjusts as needed, and follows up on alerts and alarms;
  • Develops SOPs and documentation where required;
  • Reviews heat and cooling requirements, compares, and recommends modifications to achieve optimal system effectiveness and efficiency;
  • Utilizes a work order management system to manage and accurately record work effort;
  • Makes recommendations on replacement of end-of-life or failed systems and materials;
  • Conducts trouble shooting and corrective maintenance when required;
  • Maintains assigned tools and equipment to ensure availability in a safe operating condition;
  • Ensures safe seasonal start-ups and shutdowns of HVAC systems, including cooling towers, pumps, AHU coils, and associated controls;
  • Performs start-up and shutdown of major building equipment when required;
  • Starts up, tests, charges, adjusts, calibrates, balances, measures, verifies, maintains, and documents systems;
  • Attends after-hours HVAC and refrigeration emergencies and planned shutdowns/start-ups;
  • Participates in meetings as required;
  • Travels and works at various sites;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience working on HVAC/Refrigeration equipment;
  • Valid 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning license;
  • Valid G1 or G2 gas ticket;
  • Ability to be on-call as needed;
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work at multiple locations;
  • Availability to work overtime as needed;
  • Ontario Freon Handling (ODP) license;
  • Boiler experience and service of boilers, maintenance on boilers, boiler repairs;
  • Demonstrated capabilities in accountability, judgement, decision-making, problem-solving, etc.;
  • Proven ability to effectively interact with clients, tenants, management, and staff;
  • Proven ability to foster/develop/maintain relationships with internal/external contacts;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Outlook;
  • Preference for candidates with experience preparing cost estimates and generating add-on work.
