Lead Hand, FT/PT

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Hand to oversee the staff and daily operations of our Catering Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of catering services to our clients.

About the Role:

  • Supervise a team of catering staff to ensure efficient and effective delivery of catering services.
  • Assist in the performance appraisal process to ensure staff are meeting performance expectations.
  • Determine workload requirements from catering orders and coordinate staff schedules to ensure timely delivery.
  • Meet with function group leaders to discuss setup arrangements and resolve any last-minute issues.
  • Interact with customers to resolve complaints and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of menu items and instruct staff on work expectations for catered functions.
  • Help staff set up rooms to desired specifications and assemble and deliver food and supplies to scheduled locations.
  • Serve food and beverages to guests and ensure proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures.
  • Maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies, and utensils.
  • Ensure proper food preparation by following approved recipes and production standards.

About You:

  • You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate and Responsible Beverage Service Certificate for the province in which you are working.
  • A valid driver's license may be required.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with banquet and catering functions with high volume production.
  • Proven supervisory skills and experience, capable of motivating, leading, and developing associates.
  • Strong people and customer service skills, with the ability to build relationships.
  • Creative ability to apply current food trends and presentations to food service operations.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
