The Sustainability Manager will oversee the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives, ensuring alignment with the company's global strategy. This role will also involve managing a team of local sustainability team members, providing clear direction and oversight of project initiation, supervision, and execution.





**Key Responsibilities:**

• Ensure the global sustainability strategy is implemented and lead retail and corporate sustainability
• Manage the local sustainability team, ensuring alignment with priorities and projects
• Provide clear direction for sustainability projects and oversee project initiation, supervision, and execution
• Ensure daily and annual management of the team, including regular evaluations and feedback
• Coordinate with local Marketing Manager and COO to ensure alignment and project management
• Organize and participate in team meetings, including weekly and bi-annual meetings
• Ensure top management reporting and sharing
• Align and project manage with GHQ sustainability team
• Recruit and train new team members





**Sustainability Management & Project Lead:**

• Create strategic, seasonal plans and manage the overall sustainability calendar and projects
• Support global projects and initiate new projects with teams and across teams, including stores and head office
• Monitor, report, and evaluate effectiveness of sustainability projects
• Nurture and foster robust connections with internal stakeholders and directors to ensure the sustainability strategy is known and understood
• Engage with external stakeholders, including NGOs and partners, and participate in forums and webinars
• Manage relationships with non-profit organizations to create volunteering opportunities and coordinate employee volunteering events
• Conduct research and analysis to ensure business practices, products, and services are environmentally friendly and compliant with government rules and regulations
• Encourage diversity and inclusion, supporting the inclusion of people with disabilities, refugees, and other vulnerable target groups
• Promote activities internally and externally through partnerships and collaboration with HR
• Act as the primary liaison with store operations and staff to keep sustainability information up to date in stores
• Monitor and report sustainability KPIs, including energy/CO2 reduction measures, HR, and recycling
• Lead information gathering efforts related to Extended Producer Responsibility/Waste Management regulations for all provinces in Canada
• Submit reports on a timely basis and coordinate with relevant teams, including Finance, MD, MK, BOS, and Logistics





**Desired Skills and Experiences:**

• A minimum of 3-5 years working in corporate sustainability, ESG, environmental management, or related areas, preferably in the retail or consumer goods sector, ideally clothing/fashion
• Experience in different aspects of sustainability, including People, Planet, Society, and Community engagement
• Excellent understanding of best practices and trends in sustainability, especially in retail operations
• Demonstrated experience leading sustainability projects within a commercial environment, with a technical and/or legal understanding of key sustainability issues
• Strong business acumen, communication, interpersonal, influencing, and relationship-building skills – KPI-driven
• Experience working with people from other cultures
• A strong understanding of sustainability topics, with an ability to drive change
• Ability to articulate complex topics in a clear way, as well as engage and discuss within all levels of the organization using relevant metrics – ROI, customer voices, and so on.
