Job Title: Data Specialist

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid 2-3x/week in office)

SUMMARY

The Data Specialist develops and maintains BI interfaces that will help the organization get a better grasp of the data. The Data Specialist will build dashboards, data modeling, and reporting tools. They create data visualizations from information gathered in the database.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and support new visualizations through reports, interactive dashboards, and analysis in Power BI
  • Work with development team to embed PowerBI visuals in Web and Mobile platforms
  • Investigate and identify opportunities for data cleansing and/or changes to software controls
  • Provide detailed source analysis and data mappings/transformations to developers
  • Install, configure and maintain BI systems
  • Create and ad-hoc reports through MS excel, Crystal Reports
  • Devise and deliver testing plans to validate BI solutions
  • Assemble complex data sets that business requirements
  • Develop custom ETL and ELT process automations
  • Implement and work with DAX calculation and MDX queries

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors in computer science or information management or relevant experience
  • 4+ years using Power BI (or similar BI like Snowflake, Domo) platform to deliver complex visuals (Azure embedded experience preferred)
  • 4+ years proven experience working with MSSQL including Procedures; Performance Tuning; Indexing; Triggers, ETL
  • 4+ years working with databases, warehouses and understanding of data lakes
  • Must have good grasp of statistics
  • Experience with data science and Python considered an asset
  • Microsoft Data or BI certifications preferred
