Health Care Aide

Health Care Aide position available at Southern Health-Santé Sud, assisting residents and patients with daily living needs, working under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents and patients with daily living needs as identified in established care plans
  • Provide care according to SH-SS policies and procedures, meeting established standards of practice
  • Exercise initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities and methods

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12
  • Health Care Aide Certificate from recognized program
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Acute Care)
  • Knowledge of Confidentiality/privacy requirements, Workplace safety requirements, and Violence Prevention Program (VPP) training
  • One to two (1-2) years' experience working in a health care setting preferred

Conditions of Employment:

  • Completes and maintains a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check
  • All Health Care workers are required to be immunized as a condition of employment
  • Some program areas require a valid Class 5 driver's license, an all-purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance
