Job Summary * Provide personal care to patients, including assisting with toileting, bathing, skin and hair care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, and changing beds * Observe and report patient progress, including any changes or concerns to the designated nurse * Assist patients with meals, including serving and collecting meal trays * Transport patients using mechanical aids, such as wheelchairs and lifts * Perform a variety of related general duties, including answering the phone, maintaining storage areas, and cleaning equipment Responsibilities * Provide personal care to patients, including: + Assisting with toileting, bathing, skin and hair care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, and changing beds + Patient positioning and mobilization * Observe and report patient progress, including: + Anticipated/unanticipated patient responses to care + Patient discomfort and/or pain + Skin breakdowns + Unusual incidents and/or accidents * Assist patients with meals, including: + Completing menu slips + Checking meals to ensure dietary restrictions are maintained + Serving and collecting meal trays * Transport patients using mechanical aids, such as: + Wheelchairs + Lifts + Stretchers * Perform a variety of related general duties, including: + Answering the phone + Maintaining storage areas + Ordering supplies through stores + Transporting specimens + Maintaining and locating inventory of equipment + Cleaning and caring for equipment, such as commodes/bed pans + Maintaining tidy patient rooms and patient care areas Qualifications * Grade 10 plus graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience * Current Food Safe Level One certification * Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing * Ability to deal with others effectively * Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position * Ability to organize work * Ability to operate related equipment About Fraser Health Fraser Health is a leading healthcare provider in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, serving over two million people.
