We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our team and provide expert legal support across all facets of our real estate activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal support for investment, asset acquisition, property development, construction, property management, and corporate governance.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure project success and regulatory compliance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including property acquisition, dispositions, development agreements, construction contracts, lease agreements, and other commercial and legal agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal due diligence for property acquisitions, including title searches, environmental assessments, and review of municipal regulations and zoning bylaws.
  • Oversee and resolve legal disputes related to real estate transactions, construction projects, and property management activities.
  • Identify and assess potential legal risks, providing strategic advice to mitigate these risks and developing risk management policies.
  • Assist with corporate governance matters, including preparing and maintaining corporate records, updating minute books, and drafting annual resolutions.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the Canadian bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in real estate law, with a focus on asset acquisition, property development, property management, and corporate law.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian real estate transactions, contract law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High ethical standards and professional integrity.
