Data Engineer Wanted for Insurance Development Team at Royal Bank of Canada. We seek a talented data engineer to join our team, responsible for data analysis, transformation, and pipeline development.





We are looking for a highly skilled data engineer to join our team in Technology & Operations at the Royal Bank of Canada. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in databases, SQL, and scripting languages such as Python and shell scripting.

**Key Responsibilities:**

• Performing analysis on structured, unstructured, and semi-structured raw data
• Preparing data using programming skills to standardize and organize data
• Performing data transformations using SQL on SQL server environment
• Identifying, sourcing, staging, and modeling internal process improvements to automate manual processes and optimize data delivery
• Developing technologies and data pipelines to enhance the dependability and quality of data
• Providing consulting services on new initiatives of small to medium complexity
• Supporting Development of Python and SQL code for data ingestion and transformation jobs
• Developing and supporting Python and SQL code for data ingestion and transformation jobs
• Creating IBM JCL and job scheduling documents as needed
• Creating production change records to deploy code for project
• Contributing to successful project completion by identifying risks and developing/recommending mitigation strategies

**Requirements:**

• 3+ years working experience with Databases and SQL language
• 3+ years working experience with Scripting languages like Python, C sharp and Shell scripting
• IT Standards, Methodologies, SDLC, Information Security & audit requirements
• Familiarity with working in Agile environment
• Familiarity with working with change control tools like GitHub, Helios etc.
• Knowledge on creating formal written deliverables and other documentation and ensure design, code and documents are aligned with enterprise direction, principles and standards

**Nice-to-have:**

• Working knowledge of JCL/Zeke/OMS
• Working knowledge of ServiceNow Incident and Change Management
• Working knowledge of Helios/GitHub for Source Code Management
• Insurance industry knowledge
