Responsibilities:

  • Working with children and families, both in individual and group settings
  • Recognizing mental health disorders among children, and developing treatment plans based on clinical symptoms and disorders
  • Treating child neurodevelopmental conditions through an ACE philosophy lens
  • Using a variety of therapeutic interventions including person-centred, psychodynamic, trauma-informed, solution-focused, family systems, and cognitive-behavioural through a child-based format
  • Advocating for the child and their family members from a culturally appropriate, trauma-informed perspective
  • Consulting with in-house and external interdisciplinary professionals
  • Preparing and presenting training materials for multidisciplinary professionals on varying issues relating to mental health

Skills to Succeed:

  • A Master's degree in a counselling discipline
  • Post-graduate direct clinical experience
  • An insured member of a Professional Association (NBASW or CCTNB)
  • The ability to use techniques like motivational interviewing to facilitate client involvement and change
