Care Team Assistant

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care Team Assistant to join our team in the Primary Health Care & Chronic Disease Management Clinical Services. As a Care Team Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing direct care and support to patients in our primary health care setting.

About the Role

  • Provide direct care and support to patients based on their needs
  • Support communication with patients and families
  • Assist with infection prevention and control
  • Support mental health and wellness
  • Assist with safe handling and mobility
  • Provide personal care to support procedural interventions
  • Reinforce patient and family teaching according to established guidelines

About You

  • Completion of the Continuing Care Assistant Program
  • Provincial Certification with Department of Health and Wellness
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification
  • Effective listening and communication skills
  • Competencies outlined in the CCA Competency Framework, including:
    • Accountability and integrity
    • Care setting management
    • Infection prevention and control
    • Mental health and wellness
    • Nutrition
    • Personal care, safe handling & mobility, and safety protocols

What We Offer

  • Full-time long assignment with 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Approximately 17 months
  • Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • $25.71 hourly
  • Benefits package including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage
  • Defined benefit pension plan
