The Cook is a critical role that requires a passion for delivering exceptional food experiences and a commitment to teamwork and innovation.

As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing meals and snacks that meet the dietary needs of our residents, while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation
  • Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes, and menu documents
  • Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion-controlled quantities
  • Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advising team leaders of problems and making recommendations for corrective action
  • Assuming responsibility for departmental operations, including menu changes and requisitions, in the absence of the team leader
  • Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 minimum education required
  • A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
  • Experience with cooking in institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality settings
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check (Ontario) or Criminal Records Check (British Columbia)

Bonus points for having:

  • Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willing to Red Seal certify
