Job Summary:

The Hydraulic Designer is part of the Engineering Department designing team. This position is responsible for performing hydraulic assignments of wide complexity, with considerable discretion to work detail.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform analysis on hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Prepare designs and specifications for complex hydraulic/pneumatic devices and systems including PLC based systems.
  • Participate in multifunctional design teams to integrate electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems to meet functional requirements of oilfield applications.
  • Ensure that all work performed is designed in accordance with the requirements of the customers specifications and NOV Elmar's standard engineering practices.
  • Verify that equipment design has been tested properly and meets or exceeds the expectations of the customer's specifications, legal requirements, and design goal.
  • Develop all information necessary for the operation manuals of equipment designs performed.
  • Act as liaison between other departments when necessary to ensure the success of the project.
  • Refer all problems beyond scope of responsibilities to direct supervisor.
  • Follow all applicable company and corporate policies, procedures and programs, including but not limited to the process map, support processes, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements (Minimum Education and Experience):

  • Holds a technical diploma, college diploma or university degree from an accredited post-secondary institute regarding proficiency in hydraulic/controls systems or can produce related education from an accredited institute.
  • Up to 5+ experience in the design of hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Experience in the design and/or troubleshooting of hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of closed loop and open loop hydraulic systems in mobile applications desired.
  • Excellent communication skills are required
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD to design schematics

Training required after probationary period is met:

  • Standard training for job functioning will be addressed by Department Manager.
  • Specific training will be prescribed during yearly performance evaluations.
