What is the opportunity?
The Lead Product Management Coach is a change agent and leader who works with RBC Wealth Management Canada's Wealth Digital and Data Product Teams. They coach individuals, squads, and product teams to enhance their Product Management practices and activities so that their work becomes more transparent, consistent, and predictable.
This role is dedicated to business and product teams and their leaders. They are a member of the Agile Enablement group and partner with their coaching colleagues to support the entire lifecycle. This role will develop and deliver training focused on the Product roles and their activities within Agile and hybrid delivery teams. Additionally, they inform product aspects of the overall agile transformation strategy, Ways of Working and playbook. They will leverage their ability to implement change within a large-scale, matrixed organization to be successful in this role.
What will you do?
- Solving highly complex technical problems on software engineer and delivery. Delivering training courses for team on the subject of agile software principles; maintaining training materials on a regular basis.
- Instructing agile team on the use of agile methodologies in software development processes; summarizing and promoting the best practices. Collaborating with team to facilitate the maturity of agile processes and practices; monitoring and making continuous improvements.
- Work with multiple levels of Product member roles to assess and enhanced both their strategic and tactical skills and methodologies. Use their expertise in the business agility domains to bring focus to and advise on the priorities for improvement.
- Provide training and coaching to implement appropriate product research and discovery activities for the Journey and products.
- Develop and execute on individual, squad and group training sessions in areas spanning product strategy, program planning and prioritization skills, mindset, collaboration tools for (Jira, Confluence, Mural, etc.) and task management.
- Promote, track and report on the effectiveness of the training and coaching sessions on the participants' deliveries. Work jointly with other coaches on the Agile Enablement team, PMO, Development and Quality to align on approach and ways of working.
- Support the Head, Product Management Enablement, in providing ongoing advice and counsel regarding product management practices, including strategic vision, team structure and product management goals.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- Minimum BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience, Agile Coaching certification, Agile SPO and Product Manager certifications. Minimum of 5 years in progressive digital or data application Product roles and minimum of 3 years in progressive Scrum Master and Coaching roles with proven experience working across all levels of Product Management to assess and cultivate high performing Product Management teams in digital development and delivery.
- Deep understanding and proven track record of delivering coaching in all areas of the Agile Coaching Growth Wheel using competencies identified in the Agile Coaching Competency Framework.
- Excellent facilitation and training delivery skills. Deep library of training and coaching programs designed across core product management skills.
- Financial Industry experience, ideally working with Wealth Management or Retail Banking teams.
- Proven experience championing and coaching for successful collaborative planning practices like PI Planning.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), attention to detail, and exceptional relationship management skills with the ability to work confidently with all levels of management and staff, with high impact and influence competencies.
Nice to Have
- Scrum @ Scale / SAFe or other scaling certification.
- Learning design expertise (training from the back of room, etc.)
- Product management experience working with vendor delivery teams and external consultant teams.
- Experience in delivering Business-to-Employee (B2E) software or digital applications.
- Strong technical language capabilities are an asset. Ability to anticipate needs, be resilient in challenging situations and persevere to get the job done.
