About the Role:
The Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, customers, and the environment. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing health and safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and providing training and guidance to employees.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement health and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them
- Provide training and guidance to employees on health and safety procedures and protocols
- Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement safety initiatives
- Monitor and analyze health and safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Develop and maintain health and safety policies and procedures
- Provide support and guidance to employees on health and safety matters
Requirements:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in environmental, health and safety
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Ontario workplace safety legislation and WSIB
- Experience building and rolling out health and safety programs
- First Aid Training
- Experience collaborating on projects with cross-functional departments
- Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to build lasting relationships
Preferred Qualifications:
- University degree in Business or Occupational Health
- CRSP Designation (The Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or CHSC (Certified Health & Safety Consultant)
- Experience working in seasonally driven, manufacturing environments in food or cosmetics industries
