Job SummaryAs an Occupational Therapist with Fraser Health, you will work in community-based settings, providing assessment, consultation, and interventions to clients with acute, rehabilitative, chronic, or palliative health care needs. You will collaborate with clients, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans, promoting safe and quality client care.
Responsibilities- Provide occupational therapy services to referred clients through assessment, consultation, and interventions that promote functional independence and occupational performance.
- Collaborate with clients, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to formulate treatment goals and develop, implement, and evaluate care plans.
- Prescribe and recommend specialized and adaptive aids and equipment to clients for activities of daily living.
- Coordinate rehabilitative services with clients and other health service providers, as needed.
- Act as a client advocate, providing information and liaising with funding agencies and community resources.
- Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities, assisting with the development, evaluation, and monitoring of policies, procedures, and standards related to occupational therapy.
- Maintain patient records and reports statistics to accepted standards.
- Provide input to the Manager regarding the purchase of supplies, equipment, and repairs of equipment required for occupational therapy programs.
- Participate in research and/or special projects related to occupational therapy, collaborating with other interdisciplinary staff.
- Maintain knowledge in current developments in evidence-based occupational therapy and practice.
Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of BC and eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists. Two (2) years' recent, related clinical experience in a community or home health setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
