Job Title: Facilities Planning and Development Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Facilities Planning and Development Specialist to join our team at the Ottawa Public Library. As a key member of our Corporate Services department, you will play a critical role in representing the library's interests on complex facilities planning and development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and assist with aligning implementation plans for Facilities Planning and Development.
- Represent the library's interests while collaborating with partners to produce feasibility studies, functional building programs, and project parameters.
- Support management with information and communications, and contribute to well-informed decision-making processes.
- Conduct research and analysis to support strategic decision-making and program planning.
Requirements:
- 4-year university degree in Architecture or a field relevant to the position.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a field relevant to the position.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding of the library's mission, vision, values, governance structures, and corporate policies and procedures.
- Understanding of relevant legislation, policies, regulations, and guidelines, such as the Ontario Building Code and City of Ottawa Design Standards.
- Understanding of sustainability practices within the construction industry and net carbon zero practice.
- Understanding of Facility Management and Planning, public engagement, and project management principles and practices.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office and Project Management software.
