Within the context of a client service culture, and in accordance with established standards of professional practice, and family-centered care model and the vision and values of the Medical Imaging (MI) Departments for Providence Health Care (PHC), Provincial Health Services (PHSA) and Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), the Imaging Informatics Coordinator provides leadership, input, support and subject-matter expertise when appropriate and promotes the integration of computer and communications technologies and clinical change initiatives that automate and/or enhance evidence-based clinical practices, access to patient/client information and clinical documentation.

The Imaging Informatics Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of system management pertaining to Imaging Informatics Systems utilized within Medical Imaging departments.

What you'll do:

  • Work with vendors to ensure service levels meet corporate standards.
  • Test and evaluate software in order to recommend products that will meet current and future needs.
  • Provide user support and consultation as well as other user liaison services.
  • Develop "Best Practice" methods, standards and procedures for utilization of Imaging Informatics systems.
  • Provide input into the development of policies and procedures regarding configuration and utilization of Imaging Informatics systems.

What you bring:

  • Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) or certified with Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • A minimum of five (5) years' recent Medical Radiation Technologist experience in a healthcare environment, including experience using related computer technology, implementing/supporting integrated clinical system environments, clinical change management and/or project leadership and peer mentorship or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver's license as local area travel may require the use of a vehicle.
  • Knowledge of the applicable MI standards of practice and guidelines for MI clinical practitioners.
  • Knowledge of organizational MI clinical and administrative workflows.
  • Broad knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of modality-specific workflow, radiologist reporting methodologies and image distribution requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in policy and procedure development and/or clinical documentation standards, business process analysis and reengineering techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge regarding new trends in MI clinical practice and information systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DICOM, HL7 interfaces, and integrated clinical information systems.
  • Demonstrated advanced ability in the use of computer hardware, software such as word processing, spreadsheet, graphics/presentation and database skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze & solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with co-workers, both one-to-one and in groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with others in a consultative/collaborative manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, facilitate and lead others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload in a self-directed manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform radiographic examinations in compliance with departmental standards. Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
