Job Description

Union: Non-Union
Site: Toronto Western Hospital
Department: Allied Health, Neurovascular Unit and ICU (subject to change based on departmental needs)
Work Model: On-Site
Reports to: Manager, Allied Health
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Grade: D0:08
Salary: $ $51.22 per hour (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Status: Temporary Full Time (until September 2025)
Shifts: Weekdays 8.00am - 4.00pm, Rotating Weekends
Closing Date: August 18, 2024

Duties

  • Provides assessment and treatment for adult patients with communication and swallowing disorders
  • The successful candidate will work on a progressive interprofessional team, participate in rounds, meetings and quality initiatives, and assist with coverage across other clinical service areas as necessary
  • SLP services are coordinated to provide a seven day a week service to our patients, with all team members participating in a rotational service model
Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent; required
  • Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO); required
  • Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologist and Audiologists (OSLA) membership; preferred
  • 1-2 years experience in an acute care hospital; preferred
  • Experience in the assessment and treatment of ICU, general internal medicine, and stroke population; preferred
  • Experience in professional education, presentation and in-services; preferred
  • Recognizes and acts within the scope of practice of a speech-language pathologist
  • Understanding of health care teams and how the skills and competencies of all members contribute toward patient management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
