Psychiatric Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our mental health care team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to individuals experiencing serious mental health and bio-psychosocial problems.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of clients' mental health needs, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
- Clinical Leadership: Provide clinical leadership and guidance to nursing staff, students, and other healthcare professionals, promoting evidence-based practices and best practices in mental health care.
- Crisis Intervention and Support: Respond to crisis situations, provide emotional support and stabilization, and facilitate individual and group treatment sessions.
- Education and Health Promotion: Educate clients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-management strategies, promoting health and well-being.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals, and advocate for clients' rights and needs.
- Education and Experience: Graduation from an approved School of Nursing, current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), and a minimum of one year of recent related mental health experience.
- Skills and Abilities: Strong assessment and intervention skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to providing person-centered care.
