As a Track Welder at CN, you will be responsible for welding and repairing steel track components. You will also perform track maintenance tasks to ensure our infrastructure remains safe and efficient.
Major Responsibilities:
- Utilize stick electrodes and Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)
- Operate high frequency tools
- Inspect and approve track work
- Maintain train operating restrictions in accordance with standards
- Replace defective ties, rail spikes, and anchors
- Correct track surface deviations
- Install and repair crossings
- Assist in switch and joint repairs
- Unload track material and maintain drainage
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures
- Complete required reports
Working Conditions:
- Must be available for shifts, extensive hours, and occasional overtime
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to use hand tools and welding equipment
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Requires good eye-hand coordination and grasping abilities
Requirements:
- Welding certification or equivalent experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to collaborate and share information
- Experience in similar conditions
- Knowledge of Rail Operating Rules
- Mechanical training and experience
Training:
The incumbent will undergo formal and on-the-job training to ensure successful completion of the program. Classroom training covers health and safety rules and machine operation procedures.
This position is a unionized role, with pay and benefits governed by the collective agreement.
