Job Title: Production Planner

The Production Planner plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production processes. This position is responsible for creating and managing production schedules, inventory levels, and manpower planning to meet customer demands.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and communicate production schedules for all processes and equipment based on customer demand and recommend overtime as needed.
  • Work with production and suppliers to manage inventory levels within established parameters and protect customer delivery performance ratings.
  • Promptly address and resolve production issues to minimize delays and ensure timely delivery.
  • Coordinate and execute engineering changes, program buildouts, prototype builds, and service builds to minimize obsolescence and scrap.
  • Collaborate with production and support departments to drive improvements in inventory accuracy.
  • Schedule vendors to supply material on a timely basis to meet production schedules and recommend material substitution as required.
  • Work with Purchasing to identify and address supply gaps and ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components.
  • Review supplier requirements and past due status daily and work to track and address all supplier delivery performance issues.
  • Maintain accurate work instructions for all aspects of the Production Planner position.
  • Support other Planners as needed to balance workload, train employees, and cover vacation.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a J.I.T. environment is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of related post-secondary education, Supply Chain Management or Materials Management is preferred or CPIM APICS certification and two years of related work experience.
  • Automotive background with an understanding of Material Release Planning (MRP) systems is an asset.
