Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Facility Reliability Technician.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

  • Education: Must hold a Red Seal Certificate as either an Industrial Mechanic/ Millwright
  • Experience: Minimum 5-year experience in an industry maintenance environment
  • Must have strong analytical and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Computer Skills: Must be proficient with basic computer software including the Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Proficiency with J.D. Edwards E1 would be considered an asset.

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities on equipment and systems at Marine Fabricators and Woodside Industries.
  • Undertake trouble shooting activities on equipment and systems at Marine Fabricators and Woodside Industries.
  • Oversee and coordinate subcontracted vendor services as assigned to ensure adherence to scope of work and required quality standards.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support after hours maintenance activities at Marine Fabricators and Woodside Industries.
  • Monitor operation of plant equipment and systems.
  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in maintaining and updating the computerized maintenance system.
  • Provide weekly work schedule updates and relative feedback to Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Participate in the maintenance and updating of operating and training manuals for the maintenance department.
  • Assist in preparing reports, analyzing data, and making recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
  • Initiate and carry out small projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
  • Participate in and comply with all ISI Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • As part of this role regular travel between Marine Fabricators and Woodside Industries is expected.
  • Other duties as assigned.
