Summary: Conduct Electromyography and Evoked Potentials procedures, operate equipment, and prepare reports to document test results in an outpatient clinic setting.
About the RoleThe Electromyography Technologist will be an integral member of the Schroeder Pain Assessment and Rehabilitation Research Centre (SPARC) department, utilizing knowledge of anatomy and physiology to perform Electromyography and Evoked Potentials procedures in an outpatient clinic setting. The successful candidate will operate, troubleshoot, and ensure equipment is performing effectively and efficiently. They will also prepare electronic and written reports required to document all procedures and test results.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct Electromyography and Evoked Potentials procedures in an outpatient clinic setting
- Operate, troubleshoot, and ensure equipment is performing effectively and efficiently
- Prepare electronic and written reports required to document all procedures and test results
- Participate in teaching, training, and other educational activities
- Perform other related patient care responsibilities to facilitate the provision of optimal patient care
- At minimum, completion of an undergraduate degree program in a relevant field (Biology, Kinesiology, Neuroscience, etc.)
- Three to Five years of practical and related experience
- Membership with the Canadian Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (CAET) and/or the Association of Electromyography Technologists of Canada (AETC) preferred
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards
- EMG and Nerve Conduction studies experience is an asset
- Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment with the ability to multi-task
- Strong decision-making skills to identify which cases require escalation to the physician for intervention
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high-quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance with UHN standards
- Must demonstrate compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN's Privacy Policy
- Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN, and/or departmental policies
