ABOUT BROCK:

SUMMARY:
A Superintendent is defined as a person possessing a minimum of ten (10) years' supervisory experience in their related field. The Superintendent shall receive their directives from the Project Manager. Their responsibilities shall be to coordinate all site construction activities and supervises all field personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. This includes ensuring that established company goals are realized within established quality standards while supervising all trade and field personnel and administering world class construction safety practices with all on-site activities.

The Superintendent and Project Manager will work together to coordinate the project to the satisfaction of the client, consistent with the cost, schedule and contractual requirements. The Superintendent will help maintain client relationship that will enhance future business.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ticketed Journeyman with 10+ years of experience as a technical expert in their field.
  • Posses advanced troubleshooting and communication skills to solve complex problems.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective safety operations for the protecting of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Possesses great time management skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Work for 8 hours at a time in an environment where temperatures may reach from 0 to 60° C, both indoors and outdoors in the sun.
  • Work in an environment in which vibrations and noise are moderate to severe and noise level may require the wearing of hearing protection devices.
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding at extreme heights.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds often and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Maintain footing on surfaces which are sometimes slippery.
  • See well (naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors.
  • Hear well (naturally or with hearing aid).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.
  • Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Requisition supplies and materials to complete construction projects.
  • Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Work with Human Resources to develop and upgrade personnel.
  • Direct and supervise workers, assigning work to General Foremen.
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer.
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports.
  • Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
  • Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project, such as painting or plumbing.
  • Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
  • Develop and implement quality control programs.
  • Direct acquisition of land for construction projects.
  • Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.
  • Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans, using computers.
  • Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations.

  • Administration and Management -- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Building and Construction -- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction, including dehumidification, heating, ventilation, rigging, "Right to Know" laws, environmental regulations, waste handling, and other related information
  • Personnel and Human Resources -- Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
  • Public Safety and Security -- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Mechanical -- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Design -- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Coordination -- Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.
  • Management of Personnel Resources -- Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
  • Judgment and Decision Making -- Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Critical Thinking -- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
