Employee Benefits Analyst

Mercer is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Employee Benefits Analyst to join our team in Toronto. As an Employee Benefits Analyst, you will play a key role in providing accurate and timely data and financial analyses on various projects related to group insurance benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Validate and compare premiums for group insurance plans as part of annual renewals
  • Review and analyze quotes and/or benchmarking data to ensure client's plans are competitive
  • Produce quarterly experience monitoring reports for clients and analyze the impact of any recent changes
  • Analyze financial statements of group insurance plans and review the financial agreements
  • Analyze cost drivers by reviewing client's cost/utilization data, and determine trends or comparisons to external benchmarks
  • Gather necessary data from vendors or clients; review to ensure it is complete, accurate and reasonable; and prepare data in a particular template or format for use in basic or advanced financial analyses
  • Work with client teams to develop recommendations and reporting relevant to the client

Requirements:

  • Prior professional experience in a related field
  • Graduating with a bachelor's degree in finance, statistics, administration or a related field
  • LLQP License, or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Excel and working knowledge of MS-Office suite
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Intellectual curiosity: seeking opportunities to develop new skills
  • Ability to work in teams and be flexible to work under tight deadlines and changing client needs
  • Superior organizational skills, time management and strong attention to detail
