About the RoleThis is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to lead the design, planning, and implementation of capital projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Lead a team of professionals in the design, planning, and implementation of capital projects, including project management, budget control, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution.
- Develop and implement facility designs and specifications, incorporating appropriate layouts, space allocations, signage, way-finding systems, and equipment requirements.
- Develop, plan, and implement capital budgets, ensuring the efficient utilization of financial resources within project objectives, plans, and budgets.
- Lead planning, transition, and commissioning initiatives from development through to implementation, ensuring an evaluation process is in place throughout the project.
- Provide capital project leadership within a dynamic healthcare environment, ensuring that all facility designs, developments, and construction issues are addressed.
- Liaise with Planning departments and community groups, negotiating and establishing requirements and approvals for projects.
- Determine staff complement and select, direct, supervise, and evaluate staff to ensure effective performance of duties.
- Develop, manage, and control budgets and resource allocations for related projects, ensuring efficient utilization of financial resources.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including Hospital Foundations and universities, with respect to planning, project management, design, construction updates, and reporting.
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional with a Master's degree in a relevant discipline, such as Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Administration, and a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in project planning and construction in a large complex organization, preferably in a healthcare environment.
- Broad knowledge of planning and construction processes associated with facilities development, including design, construction, and procurement within current standards, codes, bylaws, and regulations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare and relevant government procedures, standards, and requirements.
- Advanced project management skills, including demonstrated effectiveness in planning and coordinating major projects from conceptual design through construction completion.
- Ability to provide leadership, guidance, and direction to others, including staff and contractors.
- Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to use appropriate strategies to resolve conflict and build consensus between stakeholders on critical issues.
- Ability to anticipate and respond to changing priorities or unforeseen opportunities.
- Ability to lead, guide, and direct stakeholders, including staff and contractors.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to analyze and problem-solve complex issues towards creative solutions.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work and balance multiple activities concurrently.
- Ability to productively use word processing, spreadsheet, database, and project management software.
