We are seeking a Specialist, Casualty Treaty to support the marketing and underwriting of treaty Casualty business for Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada.

The Specialist, Casualty Treaty will be responsible for:

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Underwriting:
+ Evaluate submissions, assess and rate risks, and perform underwriting functions to recommend acceptance or declination and/or offer alternative terms and conditions on treaties offered to MROC.
+ Negotiate and participate in negotiations within the company and with clients, in conjunction with Client Management.
+ Ensure fast and efficient service is provided to clients.
* Marketing:
+ Complete and/or update CM and write visitation reports after each visit when necessary.
+ Promote MROC products, services, and facilities, and build business relationships with cedents and provide information and advice to cedents on matters of competence.
+ Monitor market conditions and the activities of MROC's existing and potential Casualty cedents and reinsurance competitors and report to Management as needed.
* Other:
+ Keep the Department Head informed of activities.
+ Keep up to date with online treaty system changes.
+ Prepare reports as may be required.

**Qualifications:**

* Bachelor's Degree in any professional discipline, Actuarial Science, or Mathematics preferred.
* Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) / Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) or equivalent "on-the-job" education or training.
* 5-10 years primary insurance underwriting experience as a minimum or equivalent.
* Maintain knowledge through industry publications, attending seminars or workshops related to underwriting issues.
* Excellent analytical, negotiating, and investigative competencies.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Strong computer ability and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
* Business and general insurance acumen.
* Adaptability and flexibility.
* French/German language skills an asset.
