Job Title: Steel Fabricator

At Advantage Personnel, we are seeking a highly skilled Steel Fabricator to join our team. As a Steel Fabricator, you will be responsible for creating 3D models, assembly drawings, and erection diagrams from client specifications, layout drawings, and design sketches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret contracts, drawings, and other documentation to determine information required for drafting.
  • Perform 3D modeling and detailing from sketches, site visit details, in-house designed packages, and externally provided engineering packages.
  • Initiate and prepare RFI's (Request For Information) and follow-up as needed.
  • Develop shop and erection drawings for miscellaneous steel, bins, hoppers, conveyors, and structural steel using Advanced Steel or Tekla 3D modeling.
  • Prepare detail drawings of bins, hoppers, conveyors, beams, columns, girts, joists, stairs, handrails, and connections.
  • Provide technical clarifications to shop personnel to support their work and prevent costly interruptions due to lack of information.
  • Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications, design data, and building codes, and ensure any changes in scope are reported to the Project Manager.
  • Comply with requirements of the design drawings and with CISC standards and CWB codes.
  • Perform site visits, attend meetings with engineers and technicians, and facilitate communication with clients.

Requirements:

  • A University Degree or Drafting/Engineering Technology diploma/certificate from a recognized technical institute, or suitable work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years within the Custom Steel Fabrication Industry or relevant industry.
  • Experience in designing/drafting using automated software.
