Senior Draftsman

Job Title: Steel Detailer (Custom Fabrication)

The Steel Detailer plays a critical role in supporting our projects by creating 3D models, assembly drawings, and erection diagrams from client specifications, layout drawings, and design sketches. Using advanced 3D modeling software, the Detailer provides assembly drawings and electronic files to the shop for fabrication and shipping, as well as erection diagrams and other information to Field Services for construction.

Responsibilities:

• Create 3D models, assembly drawings, and erection diagrams from client specifications, layout drawings, and design sketches
• Develop shop and erection drawings for miscellaneous steel, bins, hoppers, conveyors, and structural steel using Advanced Steel or Tekla 3D modeling
• Prepare detail drawings of bins, hoppers, conveyors, beams, columns, girts, joists, stairs, handrails, and connections
• Provide technical clarifications to shop personnel to support their work and prevent costly interruptions
• Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications, design data, and building codes
• Perform site visits, attend meetings with engineers and technicians, and facilitate communication with clients

Requirements:

• University Degree or Drafting/Engineering Technology diploma/certificate from a recognized technical institute, or suitable work experience
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the Custom Steel Fabrication Industry or relevant industry
• Experience in designing/drafting using automated software
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Advanced Steel or equivalent 3D modeling software systems
• Knowledge of structural steel fabrication, connections, and erection practices
• Knowledge of basic mathematical concepts
• Ability to read structural and architectural drawings
• Knowledge of building codes and CISC standards for structural steel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
