Job Summary The Pharmacy Technician will operate in accordance with the competency guidelines and scope/standards of practice for Pharmacy Technicians as outlined by the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia. The successful candidate will process medication orders, prepare and compound prescriptions, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions. Responsibilities • Process clinically reviewed and approved medication orders for distribution to patients, clients, or residents • Receive prescriptions from practitioners and ensure they are complete and authentic • Prepare and process prescriptions by entering orders, counting, measuring, packaging, or re-packaging medications and compounding sterile pharmaceutical products • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions prepared by self or others • Process prescriptions for temporary inpatient leave of absence • Enter and ensure the accuracy and completeness of drug and personal health information in the pharmacy information system • Transfer prescriptions to and receive prescriptions from other pharmacies • Maintain accurate records, including medication verification and quality assurance checks • Distribute medications and maintain relevant inventory, wardstock, and narcotic records • Maintain inventory and wardstock levels, fill requisitions, and identify outdated drugs for return or destruction Qualifications • Grade 12 and graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience • Current practicing registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia • Ability to communicate effectively, deal with others effectively, and operate related equipment • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position About Fraser Health Fraser Health is a leading healthcare provider in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, serving over two million people.
