This Role Reports to: Director ITS

Location: Surrey, BC

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

Compensation: $32.75/hour

Job Summary:

The ITS Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing Intelligent Transportation Systems. This role involves a combination of technical expertise, customer service, and fieldwork to ensure the reliability and effectiveness of ITS deployments. The technician will support both pre-sale and post-sale activities, including installations, troubleshooting, and customer training.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Maintain a superior understanding of ITS technology field devices and the power tools needed to deploy them effectively.
  • Conduct traffic controller systems and field modifications to enhance system performance.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex electronic ITS and communication systems, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
  • Acquire and maintain ITS Certification on all necessary ITS product lines, staying up-to-date with the latest technological advancements.
  • Perform informal onsite training sessions for ITS products to empower customers with the knowledge to use their systems effectively.
  • Offer continuous support to internal and external customers for ITS products, ensuring their queries and issues are resolved promptly.
  • Implement and adhere to 5S & LEAN methodologies in daily work activities to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Provide aftersales technical support to customers, addressing their needs and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
  • Assist with installation support and guide customers through the setup process to ensure smooth and successful deployment of ITS products.
  • Develop and deliver custom solutions tailored to specific customer requirements, enhancing their system capabilities and operational efficiency.
  • Utilize experience with traffic data collection and network solutions to offer insights and improvements to customer systems.

Qualifications:

  • Electronics Engineering Diploma or equivalent educational background.
  • Class 5 Non GDL driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
  • Comfortable working at heights and able to lift 50 lbs.
  • IMSA Traffic Signals Level I or higher certification is an asset.
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively communicate internally and with customers.
  • Proven ability to apply technical knowledge in practical scenarios.

Experience:

  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with Installations and Sales teams.
  • 5+ years of field experience in the ITS industry, with hands-on expertise in deploying and maintaining ITS systems.
  • Experience with traffic data collection and analysis to improve traffic management systems.
  • Proficiency in network solutions and their applications in ITS environments.

Skills:

  • Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Advanced computer and analytical skills to diagnose issues and develop solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed for customer support and installations.
