Job Summary:

A Financial Analyst's role is supporting financial decision-making, analyzing business performance, and providing insights to optimize financial outcomes. They provide financial intelligence, support strategic decision-making, and drive continuous improvement in financial performance and operational efficiency. Their analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex financial information are essential for the company's success.


Job Responsibilities:

Your supervisor may from time to time ask you to perform other related duties not specifically included in this job description. This job's key responsibilities include:

  • Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A): assisting in the preparation, analysis, and monitoring of the company's financial plans and budgets. This includes collaborating with various departments to develop annual operating budgets, forecasts, and long-term strategic plans.
  • Financial Reporting: prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and variance analysis. They ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data and provide explanations for any significant fluctuations or variances.
  • Cost Analysis: assess production costs, overhead expenses, and cost drivers to identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and efficiency gains.
  • Performance Metrics Tracking: track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics related to manufacturing operations, such as production volumes, inventory turnover, and scrap rates. They analyze trends over time and provide insights into operational performance.
  • Capital Expenditure Evaluation: conduct investment analyses, including net present value (NPV), internal rate of return (IRR), and payback period calculations, to support investment decisions in new equipment, facilities, or technologies.
  • Forecasting and Scenario Analysis: use forecasting techniques and scenario analysis to anticipate future financial performance under different market conditions or business scenarios. This helps management make informed decisions and develop contingency plans.

Job Qualifications:

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field is typically required.
  • Coursework in financial analysis, accounting, statistics, economics, and business mathematics is beneficial.
  • Professional certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) can enhance qualifications.
  • Entry-level financial analyst positions may require 1-3 years of relevant work experience, which can include internships or co-op placements.
  • Experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, or accounting is highly valuable. Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in automotive parts manufacturing or related industries, is advantageous.
  • Progressively responsible roles demonstrating analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with financial data are desirable.
  • Financial Analysis: Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data, analyze trends, and draw meaningful insights.
  • Quantitative Skills: Proficiency in financial modeling, statistical analysis, and quantitative techniques for forecasting and scenario analysis.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Understanding of accounting principles and financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement) to analyze financial performance and make recommendations.
  • Excel Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills are essential for financial modeling, data analysis, and reporting. Knowledge of other data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) may also be beneficial.
