Relational Security Officer, Integrated Protection Services
This role is a key part of our team, responsible for maintaining and enforcing security of persons and property in accordance with established policies and procedures.
The Relational Security Officer reports to the Coordinator, Relational Security, Integrated Protection Services (IPS) Operations and is responsible for:
- Patrolling buildings and grounds, including utilizing computerized surveillance equipment and video monitoring systems.
- Responding to emergencies, such as the C&W/PHSA Disaster Plans, emergency codes, and physically aggressive patients/persons.
- Investigating, resolving and reporting disturbances utilizing non-violent interventions.
- Providing security for C&W/PHSA patients, as requested by the patient care team, to maintain a safe and orderly workplace.
- Participating in photo identification and security system programs.
- Utilizing and operating various security systems, such as photo identification, access control, CCTV, panic/duress, and other security system programs.
- Providing pre/post flight safety inspections of heliports following appropriate departmental procedures.
- Liaising with fire, police and other related community officials regarding fire and security protocol, response, incidents and investigations.
- Providing First Aid services to injured persons, completing required documentation and maintaining supplies.
- Maintaining a daily log of events and preparing detailed reports.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Relational Security Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have:
- Current BC Security Guard License, OFA Level II Certification, and Certification of Training Completion in Advanced Security Training.
- One year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Current, valid B.C. Class 5 vehicle license.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to organize work.
