Position Highlights
As Training Coordinator, Integrated Protection Services (IPS) you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering a comprehensive training program for Fraser Health's (FH) Relational Security program that supports the professional and effective delivery of patient centric health care security services. The Relational Security training program is based on healthcare security best practices, complement BC's Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum, and incorporate principles of Trauma Informed Care, Mental Health awareness, and Cultural Safety.
We currently have a Full Time opportunity for the position of Training Coordinator, IPS to join our Integrated Protection Services team based out of Central City, in Surrey, BC.
As Training Coordinator, your work may include the following:
- Develop, deliver, and maintain IPS personnel training and development and ensures the training and education program meets or exceeds provincial Relational Security Initiative program standards; conduct needs assessments; identify training needs; develop and/or customize training courses, content, and materials; oversee and deliver training; evaluate effectiveness; and make adjustments as necessary to improve training and outcomes.
- Conduct and facilitate training sessions, presenting information clearly and concisely to various audiences.
- Maintains training records and compiles routine and ad hoc reports around Protection Services personnel training.
- Forecasts training needs and establishes an annual training schedule.
- Supervises and conducts performance assessments for unionized employees and makes recommendations related to employee evaluations.
To join our team, ideally, we will be looking for you to have:
- A level of education and experience equivalent to a college diploma plus specialized training in security & safety, criminology, emergency management, adult training/education or a field relevant to training and development, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five (5) years of supervisory and/or management experience in security/safety related role in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity (healthcare experience an asset). Including three (3) years' experience designing and delivering training programs, preferably in a healthcare security setting.
- Commitment to obtaining the International Association of Healthcare Security & Safety's (IAHSS) Certified Healthcare Protection Professional (CHPA) designation within two years of starting the position.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License. The ability to obtain a security license in British Columbia.

The Training Coordinator, Integrated Protection Services (IPS) is responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering a comprehensive training program for Fraser Health's (FH) Relational Security program that supports the professional and effective delivery of patient centric health care security services. The Training Coordinator, IPS is familiar with education principles and stays up to date on new training methods and techniques. They have a strong understanding of arranging and presenting training sessions with engaging content, theory-based practices as well as on-the-job experience. They coordinate relevant programs, education and training to mentor and educate IPS Relational Security Officers (RSO) and supports site-based operations. The Training Coordinator oversees record keeping, compliance and quality assurance in the classroom and on-site.
Responsibilities- Develop, deliver, and maintain IPS personnel training and development and ensures the training and education program meets or exceeds provincial Relational Security Initiative program standards; conduct needs assessments; identify training needs; develop and/or customize training courses, content, and materials; oversee and deliver training; evaluate effectiveness; and make adjustments as necessary to improve training and outcomes.
- Conduct and facilitate training sessions, presenting information clearly and concisely to various audiences.
- Maintains training records and compiles routine and ad hoc reports around Protection Services personnel training.
- Forecasts training needs and establishes an annual training schedule.

- Establishes and maintains templates for post orders and site orientation checklists.
- Provides support in managing operating and capital budgets for the assigned area of responsibility, including budget preparation, control, and reporting of expenditures, ensuring the efficient utilization of financial resources, and adherence to established budgets.
- Identifies and maintains a list of external agencies delivering Basic Security Training, Advanced Security Training, and Occupational First Aid training throughout the region.
- Ensures that laws and regulations applicable to training standards are reviewed and changes are implemented as necessary.
- Prepare compliance reports and identify areas for improvement associated with specific policies, practices, and procedures.
- Develop and implement a method of measuring the effectiveness of the training programs.
- Works closely with Workplace Health & Safety to ensure Protection Services training aligns with and compliments the Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum.
- Develops partnerships with clinical and support services programs and external agencies to help ensure training curriculums provide optimal service delivery.
- Supports overall program communications and promotion across the organization.
- Develops and maintains a strong understanding of overall operational practices and principals and supports daily protection operations as required.
- Obtains and maintains applicable training certifications.
- As a member of the Protection Services leadership team, provides after hours on-call function, as required.
- Performs other related duties as required.
