Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Associated Ambulance & Services (Whitecourt) Ltd Full time

With over 40 years in the industry, Associated Ambulance is the largest Emergency Medical Services (EMS) contracted operator in the province. We provide ALS & BLS services to 22 locations in rural Alberta as well as operate an Inter-Facility Transfer Service based out of Red Deer.

Associated Ambulance is currently accepting expressions of interest for a Senior Manager, EMS Operations. This position will champion strong leadership and direction while ensuring the service delivery of Emergency Medical Services to our communites across Alberta. The incumbant will utilize their education and experience in the industry to become the lead operational and strategic planner for their team.

Leadership

  • Provide expert leadership and advice on projects and initiatives created to support the delivery of Front Line Services at all levels.
  • Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources in an ever changing, multifacted environment with complexities.
  • Lead, motivate and mentor your team through continuous support, empowerment, and accountability
  • Provide support to the Senior Leadership Team and actively participate in monthly meetings
  • Build and evolve a culture to succeed and thrive through significant transitions or other organizational transformations
  • Collaborate and foster good professional relationships with a wide variety of people including allied health agencies, licensing boards/colleges, educational institutions, professional leaders and internal and external stakeholders.

Operational Management

  • Review and direct operational activities to maximize performance, public safety and the delivery of frontline EMS service including emergency calls, scheduled transports and special operations.
  • Responsible and accountable for direct delivery of contracted services as well as resource challenges
  • Oversee change management as well as grow leadership knowledge and skills within the Operations Department
  • Oversee and mentor Operations Managers responsibile for frontline EMS direct delivery
  • Plan, organize and manage short term and long term projects and deliverables
  • Set clear objectives and goals for the Operations Team as well as project implementation
  • Support the development and implementation of projects into actionable operational initiatives
  • Ensure Accredidation guidelines are being followed and adhered to

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACoP)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of leadership experience in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity
  • Preference to have a Bachelor's Degree or related formal education in business, leadership, or healthcare profession
  • Practical experience in strategic planning, policy development, leadership, and project and program management.
  • Excellent communicaton, leadership and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities
  • Capable of having difficult conversations
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge of provincial regulations and the understanding of company policies to make informed decisions within a unionzized environment.
  • Clear pattern of professional and personal development
  • Demonstrated abilities to use the Microsoft OfficeTM software platform including Teams
  • Must provide (VSC) Vulnerable Sector Check within last 3 months

Job type & details:

  • On Call as required
  • Vehicle to be provided (Non-response) with at minimum 20% travel time
  • 1.0 FTE
